Languages and Literature
The Post Graduate Department of Hindi, Language and Literature of Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad was established in 1965. From the very beginning, this department has been engaged in teaching, research, development and promotion of Hindi language and literature. Along with BA, MA, PhD course, the department also provides PG Diploma in Translation and Applied Hindi and pays special attention to research progress. Since its commencement in 1965, the department has been maintaining its quality of education in the field of teaching, and research in subjects like Hindi Language and Literature, Comparative Literatures, School of Drama and Theatre, Functional Language, Official Language and Translation Science etc.
Providing excellent knowledge of Hindi Language and Literature and in-depth research, our concern is to gift the society with skilled and honest teachers, professors, speakers, announcers, official language assistant, translators, Hindi officers, linguists, grammarians and critics etc. For benefit of the society. Hindi department has widened its horizon and now has developed endless opportunitiesof employment through Hindi Language. Therefore, the vision, mission and objective of the Hindi Department is to serve the society by producing skilled and well- trained knowledgeable citizensto fulfill the needs of the society so that in return for financial assistance, repayment can be possible by the means of providing a good and responsible citizens to the society.
Many alumni of the department are working as teachers, principals in various schools and as Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors in various Colleges and Universities of Gujarat. Again, some alumni are working in the posts of Official Language Assistant, Translators, Hindi Officers, Official Language Officers, Assistant Directors etc. in various Ministries and Department Offices and Corporations of the Government of India.
In the Department, Dr. Ram Gopal Singh has successfully completed three Research Projects- 1. Utility of Stylistics in Translation (1997) 2. Research Grammar of Modern Hindi (1999) 3. LILA (Learn Indian Languages through Artificial Intelligence) ENGLISH-GUJARATI TRANSLATION PROJECT, C-DAC, PUNE, COMPLETED IN 2009.
The faculty members of Hindi Department have done research work in the fields of Hindi Language, Hindi Literature, Comparative Studies, Research, Grammar, Linguistics, Functional Hindi, Translation Science, Drama and Theatre etc. and their books have been published.
