  • 1944: Conceptualized by Acharya Kakasaheb Kalelkar and Amritlal Nanavati to strengthen linguistic unity and national integration.
  • 1946: Formally established under the leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel under Gujarat Vidyapith to promote Hindi/Hindustani across Gujarat.
  • 1946 onward: Worked to spread Hindi/Hindustani in both Devanagari and Urdu scripts, reflecting an inclusive linguistic vision.
  • 1949: After Hindi (Devanagari) became India’s official language, programs aligned and focused primarily on Hindi in Devanagari.
