Daftar Vibhag
The Archival Cell of the Department was started in 1983. It contains the documents of the Gujarat Vidyapith, the profiles of freedom fighters. It preserves records and letters which were donated to the Department. All the files and records of the Former Chancellor of the Gujarat Vidyapith Shree Morarjibhai Desai have been preserved. Over and above, all the documents pertaining to the Gujarat Provincial Committee have been preserved. The rare photographs of Phoenix Ashram in South Africa of Mahatma Gandhi are also available here.
The department has also started a post M.A. diploma course in archival studies in 1982. From 1984 it has also introduced full-fledged M.Phil. course in archival studies. Gujarat state archives department send its officials for in-service one year training since 1983 and nearly 70 officials are trained.
