Gujarat Vidyapeeth was founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920 and is deemed to be University since 1963. The objectives of the Vidyapeeth are to impart higher education for preparing grassroots workers, and for movements connected with social reconstruction in the country with character and competency.  Adherence to truth and non-violence, participation in productive work with a sense of dignity of labor, acceptance of equality of religions, recognition of needs of village dwellers is emphasized in all curricula. Education is largely imparted in mother-tongue i.e. Gujarati. However, in exceptional cases teaching in Hindi is allowed. But it is expected that in short duration teachers pick up communication in Gujarati.

 

Applications in prescribed form are invited for the following teaching posts so as to reach the Registrar, Central Office, Gujarat Vidyapeeth, Ahmedabad – 380014, on or before  15  - 02   -2010. Application forms (Only in Gujarati Language) are available from the Central Office, Gujarat Vidyapeeth, Ashram Road, AHMEDABAD 380 014, on payment of Rs.50 in cash or demand draft drawn in favour of ‘Registrar, Gujarat Vidyapeeth, Ahmedabad’, along with a self-addressed and stamped envelope (23”x10”) worth Rs.5/-. Application forms can also be downloaded from the website www.gujaratvidyapith.org; www.gujaratvidyapith.ac.in and the filled in application should be sent only by RPAD to the Registrar with a demand draft in favour of ‘Registrar, Gujarat Vidyapeeth’ for Rs.50/-.

ESSENTAIL QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE COMON FOR POSITIONS MENTIONED BELOW. (SPECIFIC QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE FOR EACH MAHAVIDYALAYAS STATED SEPERATELY AGAINST EACH OF THEM.)

 

PROFESSOR

 

A. i.   An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of publish work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research / policy papers in indexed / ISBN/ISSN numbered journals and/or ISBN/ISSN numbered books and the University developed ISBIN/ISSN numbered list of journals/books hosted in the website of the concerned University.

     ii. A minimum of 10 years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National Level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.

     iii. Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – medicated teaching learning process.

     iv. A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based on     performance  Based Appraisal system (PBAS)developed by UGC in these Regulations.

                                                OR

  1. An outstanding professional with established reputation in the relevant field who has made significant contribution to knowledge.

In  addition the above, the specialized and desirable qualifications are indicated against each  post as follows: 

(1) PROFESSOR: 4 Posts

 

A) For Professor History and Culture : (Third Attempt) Subject of History in M.A. with An eminent scholar with published work of high quality actively engaged in research with 12 years of experience in post-graduate teaching, and /or experience in research at the University / National Level Institutions, including experience of guiding research at doctoral level or An outstanding scholar with established reputation who was made significant contribution to knowledge.

B) For Professor Social Work : (Second Attempt) Subject of Social Work in M.A. with An eminent scholar with published work of high quality actively engaged in research with 12 years of experience in post-graduate teaching, and /or experience in research at the University / National Level Institutions, including experience of guiding research at doctoral level in Social work.

C) For Professor Sociology/Social Anthropology : (Second Attempt) Subject of Sociology/Social Anthropology in M.A. with An eminent scholar with published work of high quality actively engaged in research with 12 years of experience in post-graduate teaching, and /or experience in research at the University / National Level Institutions, including experience of guiding research at doctoral level or An outstanding scholar with established reputation who was made significant contribution to knowledge.

D) For Professor Gandhian Philosophy :

      Subject of Gandhian Thought in M.A. with An eminent scholar with published work of high quality actively engaged in research with 12 years of experience in post-graduate teaching, and /or experience in research at the University / National Level Institutions, including experience of guiding research at doctoral level in Gandhian Thought or An outstanding scholar with established reputation who was made significant contribution to knowledge

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

 

(i) Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% of the marks  or equivalent grade where grading system is practiced at the Master’s degree level in a                                   relevant subject from an Indian     University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

(ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate should have cleared the National       Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

(iii) Holders of Ph.D. degrees as on the date of notification of these regulations, along with those candidates who are awarded a Ph.D. degree though a process of admission, registration,       course work and external evaluation as laid down in the UGC (Minimum Standards and procedures for award of M.Phil / Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009 and so adopted by the university, shall be exempted from NET/SLET/SET.

      In addition the above, the specialized and desirable qualifications are indicated against each  post as                   follows:       

 

(2)    ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (Lecture): 05- posts :

 

 

1.        Microbiology (for S.C.) Fourth Attempt

2.        Rural Management for computer subject.

           Desirable: Ph.D Degree in the IT / Computer and Rural Development Management.

3.               English (O.B.C.)

4.               History (O.B.C.)

5.               Urdu     (O.B.C.)

 

General Conditions :

 

(1)   Candidate employed in Govt. /Quasi Govt./Public sector undertaking should forward their application through proper channel and separate application be made for each post. 

(2)   Medium of instruction at all levels is generally in Gujarati; hence knowledge of Gujarati/Hindi is basic requirement.

(3)   University reserves the right not to fill up the vacancies advertised or all the posts advertised. The University also reserves the right to invite applications, interview and appoint qualified and deserving candidates.

(4)   Merely filling the minimum experience of P.G. & U.G. level not lower then lecturer teaching post pay scale with relevant subject for the post of Professor will not any right on a candidate for being called for interview.

(5)   3% posts are reserved for Physical handicapped candidates.

(6)   Incomplete applications will not be entertained.

(7)  No T.A. & D.A. will be paid for attending interview

(8)  Reservation and relaxation in qualification, age and work experience for SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates are applicable as per Govt. of India rules.

(9)  Selected candidates are liable to be transferred anywhere in any Mahavidyalaya of Gujarat

      Vidyapeeth.

(10) Qualification and Pay Scale as per UGC norms.     

(11) The application forms along with attested photocopies of all certificates should be sent only
